Jivamukti Yoga Retreat | 14 – 19 August 2022

The Jivamukti Yoga method is a proprietary style of yoga created by David Life and Sharon Gannon in 1984. Jivamukti is a physical, ethical, and spiritual practice, combining vigorous yoga as exercise, a vinyasa-based physical style with adherence to five central tenets: śāstra (teachings from spiritual scriptures), bhakti (devotion), ahimsā (non-harming and kindness), nāda (sound vibration/music), and dhyana (meditation).

Jivamukti Yoga is a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. It also emphasises animal rights, veganism, environmentalism and social activism.

In this retreat, we will be practising all of the above and more:

  • Diving deeper into mindfulness through periods of complete silence
  • Emerging into a proper retreat by turning off one’s phone
  • Enhancing one’s senses through a pure diet and diverse yoga practices
  • Crossing over thought fluctuations and positively influencing the subconscious mind through chanting mantras
  • Learning about the mind and body and how to positively influence one’s life and all beings around it
  • Creating a deeper understanding of the universe
  • Learning methods on how to deal with unwanted thoughts and emotions
  • Learning about Ayurveda and your personal Dosha combination (body and mind constitution) and how to best balance out your physical and mental life

We will explore various yoga asanas for beginners and intermediate to advanced students and we will learn how to practice them properly and safely. You will learn about the science of breathing and some facts about our respiratory system you might not have heard before. Pranayama techniques for beginners and intermediate to advanced students will be discussed and practised. All in all, this will be an authentic yoga retreat where you will practice and explore all components of yoga. All classes are optional, you can have breaks and free time whenever you choose to.
